Machine-tool beds and bases should be identified through their complete geometry and material specification. This enquiry includes heavy grey-iron bases and separate ductile-iron sand- or gravity-casting requests. Wall thickness and component requirements are customized to drawings.

Define the base or bed through its interfaces

Provide the full envelope and mounting geometry for the actual component. Mark the surfaces and dimensions that determine its position in the machine. Select the iron grade and required delivered condition for that design.

  • Supply the base or bed drawing and controlled revision.
  • Select the iron grade and casting-route requirement.
  • Dimension wall thickness and mounting interfaces.
  • Define dimensional and surface acceptance.

Apply the tolerance and roughness references explicitly

The supplied references are ±0.01 mm tolerance and Ra 6.3 roughness. Identify the dimensions, manufacturing stage and roughness unit to which the requirements apply. The drawing should establish the delivered component's acceptance rather than imply those values cover every casting surface.

Select the route and applicable national document

Discuss sand or gravity casting for the chosen material and geometry. Identify the actual national-standard document required by the component specification. The CNC-machine-tool wording describes the intended application and does not itself define additional processing work for the casting.

Agree qualification and supplied condition

ISO9001:2008 is the qualification reference. Request applicable current supplier documents and scope with the selected material and acceptance requirements. Quantity, geometry and finished condition should identify one defined base or bed rather than an assumed general large-part capacity.
