Custom machine-tool tailstock bodies can be requested with sand casting and CNC finishing, including gray-iron selections and separate ductile-iron components. Define the actual body, drawing and required supplied condition. The tailstock’s guide and mounting relationships should establish the geometry needed for acceptance.
Identify the complete gray-iron requirement
Named references are HT250, EN-GJL-250, ASTM A48 Class35 and FC250. Select the governing standard and required material condition for the ordered body. A ductile-iron request needs its own full designation, with any equivalence requirement separately defined for the actual component.
Choose moulding and control CNC interfaces
Green-sand or resin-bonded-sand moulding can be selected for the design. Show the locating and mounting geometry, with datums and dimensional limits governing fit in the machine tool. Distinguish cast-state surfaces from the interfaces requiring CNC-finished dimensions and specified measurement conditions.
- Provide quantity and the controlling component revision.
- Identify working and visible surface requirements.
- Specify material and dimensional approval records.
- Explain what an initial tailstock body must demonstrate.
Retain the approved supplied-body definition
State the operating and assembly requirements relevant to the selected design. Identify the component checks and records needed to assess them in the final supplied state. Identify which guide and mounting interfaces require joint dimensional assessment during acceptance. Keep accepted grade, guide geometry and machining changes attached to the drawing so production approval follows the actual tailstock body and its required machine interfaces.
