Cast-iron ingot-mold enquiries include resin-bonded sand casting and separately selected investment-casting requests. Define the mold drawing, complete iron grade and required cavity geometry before choosing the manufacturing proposal. The ordered item should be specified around the actual metal and casting duty it will serve.
Describe the cavity and the metal being cast
Provide the internal form and the dimensions controlling the intended ingot. Identify the cast metal and the operating cycle relevant to the mold design. State the thermal and service requirements needed to establish material condition and component acceptance.
Show mounting and handling relationships
Mark the interfaces used to position, support or handle the mold within the surrounding operation. Define the datum relationships and dimensions governing installation. Include the access and connection information needed to assess the selected mold geometry against its intended use.
- Identify cast-state and required finished surfaces.
- Specify the cavity’s supplied surface condition.
- Define material and dimensional approval records.
- State quantity and the controlled drawing revision.
Agree acceptance for the ingot-mold design
Explain what a sample or initial mold must demonstrate before the design is accepted. Assign the required inspection checks to the cavity and functional interfaces. Record the chosen material, casting route and service-duty criteria together with the supplied-state definition. This gives the mold enquiry a concrete approval task and keeps subsequent orders connected to the agreed design.
