The iron family is a starting decision for a drawing-based casting enquiry. This OEM/ODM service identifies gray iron, ductile iron and ADI as separate material choices for custom sand-cast components. Establish the required grade and the intended finished part before agreeing its manufacturing, machining and acceptance scope.

Choose the iron family for the actual component

Gray iron, ductile iron and austempered ductile iron should retain their own specified material requirements in the part brief. Identify the component's geometry and operating duty so that selection is attached to a defined application. Brass, magnesium, zinc-alloy and aluminum enquiries are separate material discussions; they do not describe the composition of the iron component.

  • A spectrograph is available among the material-testing resources.
  • CMM inspection supports dimensional evaluation of the component.
  • A roughness tester addresses the agreed surface requirements.
  • A tension tester is included among the testing equipment.
  • OEM and ODM enquiries are supported for the requested part.

Put the standard beside the grade

DIN, AISI, SAE, ASTM, UNS, GOST, ISO, BS, EN and JIS are the standard families named for discussion. Select the exact material specification and acceptance basis relevant to the iron order rather than assuming every family applies at once. The required checks should then follow that grade and the finished component drawing.

Define additional work as its own supply scope

A custom casting enquiry may also need separately agreed machining, forming, welding or finishing work. Identify those operations for the proposed part instead of treating them as a default chain for every iron blank. For this service, a clear material choice and finished-part requirement give the testing and manufacturing discussions a useful common reference.
