Custom coated-sand castings are offered for automotive components in customer-specified material. OEM/ODM work can include machining where needed and the selected surface treatment. The minimum order is ten pieces, with custom color and supplied-state requirements defined for the actual part.
Start from the automotive drawing and duty
Specify the complete grade and material condition required by the design. Show mounting, mating and working interfaces in relation to surrounding components. Mark datums and dimensional limits governing fit and state the operating requirements relevant to material and component acceptance.
Define machining and final-surface boundaries
Distinguish cast-state surfaces from interfaces requiring finished dimensions. Identify the measurement condition and any relationships needing joint assessment. Specify treatment coverage, appearance and masking where finishing affects installation or the part’s working contacts.
Make color and sample approval explicit
Provide the required color reference and areas to which it applies. Explain what an initial part should demonstrate about geometry, material or appearance. Identify the material, dimensional and surface records needed to approve the selected automotive component.
- Provide quantity and the controlling revision.
- Identify the actual supplied component boundary.
- Request applicable ISO9001:2008 documentation and scope.
- Retain approved grade and finish changes with the drawing.
Keep the accepted material, coated-sand route and finished-interface requirements attached to the order so production acceptance follows the actual automotive part and required delivered condition.
