Give the nonstandard automotive project a clear boundary between the tool, prototype and finished component. This OEM/ODM sand-casting enquiry includes in-house tooling design, mold manufacture and prototyping, with machining and surface finishing selected for the actual deliverable. Establish what is being approved at each stage before connecting the development work to the production drawing.

Approve the Tool and Prototype Scope

Material choices include aluminum, iron, stainless steel, brass and copper. Select the complete grade for the component and define which tooling or prototype deliverables belong within the request. Describe what the prototype must demonstrate and how its approval relates to the finished automotive part rather than assuming that a tool and casting share the same acceptance criteria.

Mark the Nonstandard Interfaces for Machining

The tolerance reference is 0.01–0.05 mm, with limits, affected interfaces and supplied stage to agree. Use a controlled drawing revision to identify the geometry requiring finished dimensions. Named machining options can then be assigned to their actual tasks.

  • Three-, four- or five-axis CNC milling can be selected for the required geometry.
  • CNC turning can be identified for the finished rotational interfaces.
  • Wire EDM can be included where the component drawing calls for it.
  • Sinker EDM can be specified as a separate machining requirement.

Bring Surface and Part Approval Together

Sizes and colors are customized, with powder coating, painting and anodizing selected for compatible substrates. The inspection scope is 100% under an ISO9001 system; agree actual methods, reporting and applicable documentation for the ordered work. Semiconductor, industrial-equipment and consumer-electronics components need their own duty and acceptance where separately requested. Submit quantity and tool/part approval requirements so the nonstandard enquiry stays tied to identifiable deliverables.
