Custom gray-iron sand casting supports industrial component enquiries made to customer drawings. Separate steel and aluminum requests are also within the stated material scope. Size and surface treatment are customized, so the most useful starting point is a drawing that defines the part’s function and the condition required at delivery.
Prepare a drawing for an industrial replacement or new part
For a replacement, identify the interfaces that must match the existing assembly. For a new design, distinguish the essential operating dimensions from areas where the proposed casting geometry can be reviewed. A complete grade designation gives the material request a more precise basis than a broad metal name.
Choose where machining adds value
Machining is available when needed after casting. Mark the seating surfaces, holes and locating references that require a finished dimension, and leave the acceptance condition clear for the remaining surfaces. The requested finish should account for both appearance and any contact areas used during assembly.
- Send 2D PDF/CAD drawings or 3D IGES/STEP data.
- Identify the ordered grade and component use.
- Specify quantity and the required delivered condition.
- Define dimensional and surface acceptance.
- Include protection needs for carton or wooden-box packing.
Match qualification documents to the order
ISO9001, TS16949 and RoHS are named qualification or conformity references. Identify the applicable document and whether its scope concerns the supplier, a process or the ordered component. OEM and ODM enquiries can then be assessed against the actual assembly requirements, with the inspection record and sample approval arrangements established before production.
