ToleranceCustomer's Drawing Request
ASTM A48 Class20 gray-iron sand castings can be requested for precision machine-tool or automotive-machinery components. Ductile-iron parts are specified separately with their own complete grade. OEM/ODM dimensions and tolerances should follow the drawing for the actual machine component and supplied condition.
Describe the machine-tool working relationships
Show where the selected casting mounts, locates or contacts adjoining machine elements. Identify the operating duty and material condition relevant to that design. Mark the interfaces whose relationships control installation and the required working fit.
Define the precision request through the drawing
Establish locating references and permitted dimensional limits for the chosen component. Distinguish regions accepted in the cast state from interfaces needing a different supplied result. Agree measurement conditions where machine relationships are assessed together at approval.
Set inspection and system-document scope
The stated 100% inspection operates under an ISO9001-system reference. Define the material, dimensional and surface checks required for the selected item. Request applicable system documentation with the relevant holder and activity scope, keeping the gray-iron material class separate from any ductile specification.
- Identify the machine component’s quantity and controlling drawing revision.
- Specify the required surface condition at working and visible areas.
- Explain what an initial casting must demonstrate against the mating equipment.
- Retain approved grade and interface decisions within the component acceptance record.
Confirm later production against the same machine duty and supplied-state definition.
