A custom metal component can be quoted from one piece when its material, drawing and supply requirements are defined. This OEM/ODM enquiry covers die-cast part requests with optional machining and finishing, alongside separate sand- and investment-casting enquiries. Steel, aluminum, brass and iron are material choices to select for the actual design.
Select the material and viable casting route
Name the full grade and governing specification required by the component. Discuss the die-, sand- or investment-casting requirement against that material and geometry. The agreed quotation should identify one route for the ordered item rather than assume every metal uses the same process.
Provide drawing data that defines the finished part
Accepted information includes 2D PDF/CAD drawings and 3D IGES/STEP geometry. Tolerances follow the customer drawing, so mark the dimensions that determine function or assembly. Identify which interfaces need machining and the limits that apply after that work.
- Submit the controlled drawing and selected material grade.
- State the quantity and intended component use.
- Mark casting dimensions and finished machining interfaces.
- Describe the required surface treatment and delivered condition.
- Specify inspection characteristics and acceptance limits.
- Identify applicable supplier-document requirements.
Coordinate finish and the stated inspection scope
Surface treatment follows customer requests, with 100% inspection stated for the service. Define the treatment and measurements needed to establish acceptance of the part in its supplied condition. ISO9001:2015 is the certificate reference; identify the relevant documentation and scope required by purchasing. The component specification should keep the chosen material, route, machining and finishing requirements aligned.
