Sample-based automotive engine housings, casings and shells can be requested in A356 aluminum through a selected casting route. Other choices are ZL101, A360, AC2C or a specified customer alloy. Establish the complete material requirements and supplied condition for the actual component.

Define what the reference sample establishes

Identify the geometry and characteristics the sample is intended to demonstrate. Connect the approved sample requirements to the controlling component drawing. Show mounting and mating relationships with the selected engine assembly, including the interfaces governing final fit.

Choose casting and treatment conditions

Sand, permanent and pressure-die casting require the actual alloy and design matched to the selected process. T5 or T6 conditions need their own applicable material and route definition. Specify material records and dimensional limits required for the chosen housing’s acceptance.

Set the final surface and component checks

Sandblasting, painting and polishing or another requested finish can be specified on a compatible substrate. Mark treated areas, appearance and contact conditions. Define measurement conditions for housing relationships assessed together and the evidence required to approve the supplied state.

  • Provide PDF, STP, STEP or STL drawing information.
  • Packing uses a large inner plastic bag and multilayer outer wooden box.
  • State the housing quantity and controlling engine-component revision.
  • Request the complete applicable ISO document and relevant scope.

Retain accepted sample, alloy and treatment decisions within the part definition used for subsequent automotive housing requests.
