Spherical ceramic/ceramsite foundry sand is offered for shell molding and steel, iron, aluminum or alloy-casting applications. Roundness above 95% and a 20% casting-yield improvement are stated references. Define the selected grade, baseline and foundry conditions when evaluating those process characteristics.

Select the grading and alumina requirement

Grading enquiries include AFS30–AFS200, 10–20 mesh and 20–30 mesh, with sizing customization available. Al2O3 scope is 65–85%, including 70%, 73%, 75% and 78% grades. Specify the actual grade and distribution rather than combining the full range into one composition.

  • Identify the casting metal and shell-molding process.
  • Select the grade and particle-distribution requirement.
  • Define roundness measurement and acceptance.
  • Specify the baseline for casting-yield evaluation.

Use chemistry and refractoriness for grade selection

The refractoriness reference is 1770–2000°C. Other composition references are SiO2 8–25%, CaO 0.46%, MgO 0.37%, TiO2 2.94%, Na2O 0.06% and K2O 0.48%, with pH 7–8. Match those values to the selected grade and lot analysis. CrO and SiC are marked N/A rather than supplied as numerical concentrations.

Evaluate the yield-improvement reference under defined conditions

Identify the binder system, casting geometry and process baseline for assessing the stated 20% improvement. Agree how yield and roundness will be measured for the intended production use. The material is offered as a green casting material; any environmental criteria required by the project should be specified separately from these process references. Grade, chemistry and evaluation requirements should concern the actual sand supply.
