Brown artificial sintered ceramic foundry sand is offered for sand-casting and turbine-casting enquiries. The material is described as heat resistant with uniform granularity, using a stated 20–270-mesh range for selecting the required foundry-sand grading.
Select the distribution within the mesh range
Specify the particle-size distribution needed by the mold or core process and the grading method used for acceptance. Identify the casting alloy and binder system with the request. This gives the selected ceramic sand a defined role within the actual molding process.
Compare the thermal and grain-property references
Stated refractoriness is at least 1800°C, thermal expansion is 4.5–6.5 × 10^-6/K and angular coefficient is at most 1.1. Use the applicable test conditions when comparing these properties with the sand already in use. Refractoriness should be evaluated as the stated material property within the broader mold-system and casting requirements.
Define incoming material acceptance
Loss on ignition is below 0.1%. Include the required grading, thermal-property and bulk-density data in the acceptance brief for the selected supply. If uniform granularity is a key requirement, identify the distribution limits and checks that matter to the intended sand or turbine-casting application.
- Specify the required grade within the 20–270-mesh range.
- Identify the casting alloy, binder and mold or core duty.
- Define the property tests and batch acceptance criteria.
- State quantity and applicable ISO9001 document requirements.
