Metal sand-casting enquiries can be defined around a selected material, optional machining and a required finish. Aluminum, brass, iron, steel and zinc are named choices here, with Zamac, copper, alloy steel, stainless steel and magnesium requests also included. Specify the actual grade and component instead of combining the material list into one composition.
Define the cast part and its finished interfaces
Provide the component drawing and dimensions that determine assembly or use. Identify surfaces needing CNC work and the limits that apply after machining. Accepted information includes 2D PDF/CAD and 3D IGES/STEP, with one controlled revision used for the quotation.
- Identify the metal component and selected grade.
- Provide the drawing and required quantity.
- Mark casting dimensions and optional machining interfaces.
- Specify powder coating, painting or another required finish.
- Define inspection acceptance and supplier-document needs.
- Identify any separate tooling or molded-part deliverable.
Choose the route and finish for the selected material
Die- and gravity-casting enquiries require their own component and material selection. Powder coating, painting and anodizing are finishing choices, with CNC defined as machining work. Describe the treatment and contact-area requirements for the actual metal and supplied condition.
Keep broader tooling work identifiable
Punching moulds, cold-runner steel tooling for ABS/PP, extrusion or round-preform work and rubber/silicone injection moulds are separate enquiry areas. Valve-component and powder-product requests should also identify their own deliverable. State whether the order concerns metal parts, nonmetal molded parts or tooling. ISO9001, TS16949 and RoHS are qualification references for which the applicable documents and scope should accompany the purchase request.
