    Customer's Drawing Request

Gray-iron windlass ratchet-wheel sand castings can be requested for boat-anchor winch equipment, with an ASTM A48 material reference. OEM/ODM work also includes separately specified ductile-iron and automotive-machinery components. Define the complete material requirement and actual drawing for each part.

Establish the ratchet and mating mechanism

Show the tooth profile and its relationship to the mechanism it engages. Mark mounting, locating and contacting geometry with the datums controlling fit. Identify the operating requirements and marine exposure relevant to the selected winch component’s material and supplied condition.

Name the grade and drawing acceptance

Specify the ASTM A48 class and required condition for the gray-iron wheel. A separate ductile-iron selection needs its own full designation and document. Dimensions and tolerances follow the customer drawing, including the interfaces assessed together for mechanism and mounting acceptance.

  • Provide quantity and the controlled component revision.
  • Define required working and visible surface conditions.
  • Identify any design-specific winch or rotating-service checks, including the examination stage for tooth and mounting geometry.
  • State material and dimensional approval records.

Keep inspection and qualification component-specific

The stated 100% inspection under an ISO9001-system reference should address the agreed wheel characteristics and records. Request applicable documentation scope alongside the actual examination methods and criteria. Explain what an initial part must demonstrate and retain the accepted material, tooth geometry and supplied state with the order so approval follows the intended anchor-winch assembly.
