Custom iron sand castings should identify the material family and required condition of the part. This OEM/ODM enquiry includes grey iron, ductile iron and ADI components, with separate carbon-steel requests. Sizes are customized and the service states 100% inspection.

Name the full grade and governing document

Standard families include DIN, AISI, SAE, ASTM, UNS, GOST, ISO, BS, EN and JIS. Select the actual document and grade for the requested component. An ADI requirement should be identified through its specified material condition rather than assumed for every iron part.

  • Provide the component drawing and controlled revision.
  • Select the grade, standard and required condition.
  • State the quantity and supplied-part requirements.
  • Mark dimensions and material properties for acceptance.
  • Specify inspection methods and required records.
  • Identify any separate forming or treatment work.

Define testing-equipment and inspection scope

Equipment references include a spectrograph, CMM, roughness tester and tension tester. A PP reference is also supplied; define the equipment or test intended for the order. Agree what the 100% inspection must cover for the selected component and acceptance drawing.

Keep additional processing and qualification requests clear

Blanking, bending, forming, welding and anodizing are separate processing enquiries to select for the actual material and part. ISO9001, TS16949, RoHS and ISO1400 are supplied document references. Identify the exact applicable documents and scope, including the intended ISO1400 requirement. The grade and finished acceptance should define the actual casting order.
