Custom industrial-machinery enquiries include grey-iron and ductile-iron components with sand casting, CNC machining and painting. Select the actual iron family and complete grade for the design. A high-strength requirement should identify the service duty and acceptance criteria relevant to the part rather than relying on the material-family name alone.

Define the required geometry from the assembly

Show the mounting points and mating surfaces that determine the component’s position in the machine. Mark the dimensions controlling those relationships and the datums used to measure them. Dimensions follow the customer drawing and tolerances are customized for the selected supplied condition.

  • State the grade and required condition on the controlled drawing.
  • Provide quantity; the listed minimum order is 100 pieces.
  • Mark areas requiring a finished machining operation.
  • Identify dimensional, material and painted-surface acceptance.
  • Define any service-duty checks required by the design.

Specify the painted and machined boundaries

Identify where coating coverage is required and where a contact or locating surface needs masking. The final dimension and surface condition of each functional area should remain clear after treatment. Include an appearance reference where exposed surfaces form part of the approval requirement.

Match inspection records to the supplied condition

Quality control is stated as 100% inspection under an ISO9001-system reference. Agree the checks required for the component and the records used to approve them. Identify the applicable ISO9001:2015 qualification document and scope, with any sample approval tied to the same drawing revision used for production.
