A custom base or housing begins with the way it supports and locates the machinery assembly. Gray-iron sand casting and machining are available for these components. Ductile iron and steel are further selections; aluminum, zinc and copper requests need their own material and route definition.
Put the mounting relationships on the drawing
For a base, identify support points, fastening positions and the faces establishing alignment. For a housing, show the interfaces locating the enclosed or attached components. Specify tolerances against the relevant datums so a custom overall size is accompanied by the geometry needed for installation.
Define the supplied machined condition
Separate cast surfaces from the interfaces requiring machining. Identify any mating dimensions that must be assessed together and state the inspection condition. For a pump-related request, describe the actual component and its service requirements so the housing’s acceptance follows its role in the equipment.
Choose the visible and working surface result
Deburring and the original surface color are listed. Mark the edges and working areas whose final condition matters to handling, fit or function. If a particular appearance or additional treatment is required, include that requirement in the component brief for quotation.
Order the base or housing as a defined item
OEM/ODM enquiries should include quantity, revision and the complete grade requirement. Identify material records and dimensional checks needed for approval. Explain what any reference sample illustrates, keeping the controlled drawing responsible for the mounting and housing geometry to be supplied.
