Describe the required strength and fit
State the service conditions and material requirements relevant to the selected design. Show the mounting and mating relationships with adjoining components. Mark locating references and functional limits for the interfaces governing installation or operation.
Separate cast form from finished surfaces
Identify dimensions needing further machining and distinguish them from regions accepted in their cast state. Define measurement conditions for relationships assessed together at approval. Specify polished areas, their required appearance or contact result and any contacts needing a different final condition.
Set inspection and document acceptance
