Tooling & Mold DesignIn-house Tooling Design, Mold Manufacturing, Prototyping Service
Industrial iron sand-casting enquiries can be developed through mold making, prototype castings and finished machined components. In-house tooling design, mold manufacture and prototyping are named services, with separate aluminum, stainless-steel, brass and copper material requests also available for definition.
State which deliverable the order must cover
Identify the mold or tooling, prototype quantity or finished production component required. Supply the authoritative model and drawing with the selected material grade. The deliverable definition helps establish how tooling work connects with the casting and any subsequent machining.
Build a machining brief from the interfaces
Available methods include 3-, 4- and 5-axis CNC milling, turning, wire EDM and sinker EDM. Mark the interfaces requiring each selected operation and assign the 0.01–0.05 mm tolerance reference to agreed dimensions and supplied stages. Size and color are customized to the order.
- Define tooling, prototype or machined-component scope.
- Select iron or the separate required metal grade.
- Reference the current model and drawing revision.
- Mark cast and machined acceptance dimensions.
- Specify surface treatment, color and quantity.
- Identify inspection coverage and approval records.
Complete the finishing and quality requirements
Powder coating, painting and anodizing are surface choices for suitable selected metals. Specify treatment boundaries and the required appearance. Quality control is stated as 100% inspection under an ISO9001 system; request applicable supplier documents and define the actual checks needed for the component. Automotive, semiconductor, industrial-equipment or consumer-electronics projects can include their own acceptance requirements in that brief.
