Large industrial castings should be quoted from the complete component geometry and required delivered condition. This OEM/ODM service covers cast iron, cast steel and alloy steel with sand casting and CNC-machining enquiries. Shot blasting is the named surface treatment, with optional machining defined by the selected part.
Provide the full casting and material requirement
Identify the grade and governing specification for the component. Show the complete envelope, interfaces and dimensions that determine its use. The large-part enquiry should include the actual geometry and handling requirements relevant to the selected material.
- Supply 2D/3D CAD, DWG, STEP, PDF or IGS data.
- Select the material grade and required quantity.
- Mark critical interfaces and CNC-finished dimensions.
- Specify shot-blasted and delivered-condition requirements.
Define casting and machining acceptance separately
For the large iron or steel component, machining is included where the drawing requires it, with shot blasting defining the stated surface-treatment scope. Identify dimensions accepted in the cast condition and those requiring finished machining. The drawing should place the relevant limits and datums on each stage of the component.
Agree the stated inspection scope
Quality control is described as 100% inspection. Specify the methods, characteristics and records needed to accept the actual part. Those requirements should address the selected material and finished geometry rather than an assumed general precision for all large castings.
Identify packing and order requirements
The minimum order is one piece, with wooden-case packing named. Define the packing and handling arrangement appropriate to the component being supplied. The material, drawing and acceptance scope should remain consistent across the quotation and industrial casting order.
