Custom machinery parts can be quoted around a cast shape, optional machining and a specified surface treatment. This OEM enquiry covers aluminum, steel, iron, zinc alloy and stainless steel as separate material choices, with sand casting and aluminum die casting among the route enquiries. Size and color follow the requested component.

Make the machinery interface the starting point

Show where the part fits, which surfaces contact other components and which dimensions determine the assembly. That information helps separate dimensions that can remain in the casting scope from interfaces needing machining. Select one material grade for the requested design and describe its service conditions rather than combining the available metals into one material specification.

  • Submit the component drawing and the revision to be quoted.
  • Identify the material grade, quantity and intended machinery use.
  • Mark the mounting faces, bores or other controlled interfaces.
  • State which surfaces require machining and the finished dimensions.
  • Specify the required color and powder-coating requirements.
  • Define the dimensional and surface checks needed for acceptance.

Use machining where the drawing requires it

For this machinery component, casting can be followed by machining at the selected interfaces and powder coating to the specified color. An enquiry can therefore distinguish the cast component from its optional finished interfaces. Ask the quotation to identify the proposed sand-casting or die-casting route for the chosen material and geometry; the material and route lists do not establish every possible combination.

Plan coating around the finished dimensions

Powder coating is the named finishing option, with customized color available. Identify mating surfaces and any areas where the coating could affect assembly, measurement or the required delivered condition. Bringing these details into the initial drawing review allows the quotation to address casting, machining and coating as a coordinated supply scope.
