Sand-casting and machining enquiries should define whether the deliverable is a finished metal part or a mould requirement. This custom service includes steel, iron, copper and nonferrous-alloy requests. Material, color and surface treatment follow the customer's specification, with size and tolerances controlled by the drawing.
Define the mould or component boundary
Identify the item being purchased and the geometry it must provide. For a finished part, show its mating interfaces and required supplied condition. For mould work, describe the tooling deliverable and the component or process it must support.
Select the metal and drawing requirements
Name the full grade and applicable material specification. Use the controlled drawing to identify dimensions that determine assembly or function and the tolerance requirements that apply to them. A nonferrous-alloy request needs the selected alloy designation rather than the broad material-family label alone.
- Provide the part or mould drawing and revision.
- Select the material grade and required quantity.
- Mark the interfaces needing machining.
- Specify the finished dimensions and acceptance limits.
- Describe color, surface treatment and delivered condition.
- Identify inspection and supplier-document requirements.
Coordinate finishing with the supplied item
Surface work and color are customer-defined, so describe the required result for the actual material and geometry. Identify contact or measurement areas needing particular instructions. The quotation should specify the casting, machining and finish work included for the ordered part or tool.
Agree the stated inspection scope
Strict 100% inspection is stated for the service. Define the characteristics and records needed to establish acceptance against the selected drawing. ISO9001 is the qualification reference for which the relevant documents and scope should accompany the purchasing requirements.
