Prototype components should be chosen around the function the sample must demonstrate. This custom OEM enquiry covers CNC and micro machining, with sand- or investment-casting requests for suitable blanks and separate metal/plastic work. Define the intended evaluation before selecting material and operations.
- Describe the prototype purpose and intended application.
- Provide controlled model data and dimensional requirements.
- Select the material grade and incoming blank requirement.
- Identify functional interfaces and acceptance limits.
- State sample quantity and desired finished condition.
- Specify painting or other requested finishing.
Choose material for the evaluation
Metal capabilities include aluminum, brass, bronze, copper, hardened metals, precious metals, stainless steel and steel alloys. Plastic prototypes are a separate nonmetal enquiry. Identify what the sample must represent so the material choice and any casting request address the intended evaluation.
Allocate machining to the prototype geometry
Broaching, drilling, etching/chemical machining, laser machining, milling, turning, wire EDM and other machining services are named scope. Rapid prototyping and micro machining are offered, with punching as an additional process enquiry. Select the work required by the geometry and define numerical acceptance for the controlled dimensions.
Keep model data and finished requirements aligned
Design resources include Pro/Engineer, SolidWorks, Unigraphics and AutoCAD, with IGS, STP, STL and X-T file references. Identify the controlling revision and any dimensioned requirements that accompany the model. Painting is a named finish option; state the required surface condition so the prototype's material, operations and acceptance describe one deliverable.
