This custom casting enquiry brings together several metal-part and tooling requests. For a production component, select the metal, drawing and delivered condition first, then discuss investment casting, sand casting and any machining. Steel, ductile iron, aluminum and zinc alloy are named choices rather than a combined material composition.

Define the metal grade for the requested part

The broader material scope includes iron, zamac, copper, brass, stainless steel and magnesium, alongside carbon-steel and alloy-steel enquiries. A quotation needs the actual grade and component geometry. Die-casting and gravity-casting routes can also be discussed for the selected design, with the suitable route determined for that particular material and part.

Distinguish finished components from mould and tooling work

Punching and cold-runner moulds, extrusion/preform work, rubber or silicone injection moulds and PP/ABS plastic moulds are additional enquiry areas. Identify whether the deliverable is a metal component or the tooling used to make another product. The material of a mould and the material processed by that mould should be specified separately.

  • Supply 2D PDF/CAD drawings or 3D IGES/STEP data.
  • Identify the component or tool, selected material grade and required quantity.
  • Mark the dimensions that need machining and final inspection.
  • State the requested surface treatment and delivered condition.

Place machining and finishing in the supply scope

Metal-component orders can pair the selected casting with any required machining before the agreed finish is applied. CNC work belongs in the machining scope, while powder coating, painting and anodizing are finishing enquiries to evaluate for the selected metal. Mark surfaces where finishing must preserve a mating dimension or a defined contact condition.

Specify the qualification documents that apply

ISO9001, TS16949 and RoHS are stated qualification references. Identify the document, product scope or supplier-approval requirement relevant to your order. The quotation can then address the required evidence alongside material selection, dimensional acceptance and the agreed manufacturing scope.
