Custom steel and iron casting requests should identify the actual metal and method required by the component. This enquiry names steel parts with resin-coated-sand casting and separate iron-component requests with shell-molding scope. Provide the design and selected grade so the proposal concerns one defined part.
Specify the steel or iron required by the design
Name the complete grade and applicable material standard. Describe the part's intended function and the interfaces that determine its use. A steel enquiry and an iron enquiry should each retain their own material and delivered-condition requirements.
- Provide the component drawing and controlled revision.
- Select the material grade and governing specification.
- Identify the resin-coated-sand or shell-molding requirement.
- State the quantity and required supplied condition.
- Mark critical dimensions and acceptance limits.
- Describe required inspection and any additional work.
Define the casting geometry and process requirement
Show the overall shape and the dimensions important to assembly or operation. Identify any route requirement already established by the project and agree the method for the selected metal. The quotation should name the actual manufacturing scope rather than combine material and method labels into an assumed universal capability.
Agree acceptance for the delivered casting
State the surface condition and dimensional checks needed when the component is received. Any additional requested processing should be described explicitly within the supply request. Material, geometry and inspection criteria should refer to the same drawing and part. This gives the custom casting enquiry a measurable acceptance basis without an invented grade or general precision value.
