Prototype purchasing works best when the test purpose is clear. This customized OEM service covers metal and plastic prototyping and CNC-machined parts, with investment casting and sand casting available as separate enquiries for a prototype blank. Define what the sample must demonstrate before choosing its manufacturing scope.
Match the prototype to its intended evaluation
A sample for assembly checking may need a different acceptance drawing from one used for functional evaluation. Identify the interfaces, dimensions and surface condition that must represent the intended component. For a cast-metal prototype, state the alloy and proposed blank route; a plastic prototype remains a separate material and process enquiry.
- Describe the prototype's purpose and the results needed from evaluation.
- Provide the controlled 3D model and dimensioned drawing where available.
- Select the metal grade or plastic material for the requested sample.
- Identify machined surfaces, critical dimensions and required inspection.
- State prototype quantity and the desired finished condition.
- Define any micro-machined geometry with numerical drawing limits.
- Identify painting or other requested finishing for quotation.
Allocate the machining operations to the design
Broaching, drilling, etching or chemical machining, laser machining, milling, turning and wire EDM are among the stated services. Rapid prototyping, micro machining and punching are also named enquiries. Select the operations needed for the component rather than treating this service list as one compulsory production sequence.
Keep design files and material instructions aligned
Available design resources include Pro/Engineer, SolidWorks, Unigraphics and AutoCAD, with IGS, STP, STL and X-T file references. Metal enquiries include aluminum, brass, bronze, copper, hardened metals, precious metals, stainless steel and steel alloys. Identify the authoritative drawing revision and grade so that the sample geometry, material and inspection request refer to the same prototype.
