The finished aluminum component should guide a die-casting and CNC-machining enquiry. This OEM/ODM service works from a drawing-led part definition, with the selected alloy and the intended supplied condition agreed for the project. Bring the geometry and dimensional requirements together before approving the component's manufacturing scope.

Prepare the file package for tool review

Provide the part geometry and the drawing notes that define its final condition. The file package should identify the current revision and the dimensions relevant to the aluminum component, so the tooling and machining discussions share the same reference. Suitable enquiry formats can be selected from the available file choices.

  • X_T files are requested for the component enquiry.
  • DXF and DWG are drawing-file choices.
  • SAT and IGS are additional geometry-file options.

Assign tolerance to a production stage

The tolerance reference is ±0.02 mm, with the applicable dimensions and inspection basis to be agreed. Distinguish the requirements of the casting blank from those assigned to finished machining. For this aluminum part, the drawing should make clear where that tolerance is needed and at which stage it will be assessed.

Separate the casting-route enquiries

Die casting is the principal named process, while sand and gravity casting are separate enquiry routes. Choose the method applicable to the required alloy and geometry rather than combining the alternatives into a sequence. The requested CNC scope should then describe the work needed on the selected component.

Agree the supplied aluminum component

A two-year warranty is stated for the service, with its coverage to be agreed against the order. Include the required quantity, finish and acceptance dimensions in the part brief. For an OEM/ODM project, the agreed drawing and component condition provide the useful reference for evaluating both the manufacturing proposal and the completed supply scope.
