Sand-casting enquiries for manufacturing-equipment components include cast iron, with separate steel and carbon-steel material requests. Define the actual equipment part and complete grade before selecting the required delivered condition. A precision request should identify the dimensions and relationships that matter to the machine.

Show the component in its equipment arrangement

Identify where the part is mounted and how it locates relative to adjoining components. Include the contact surfaces and any clearances needed during assembly or operation. These details make the component’s function visible in the enquiry without assuming that an equipment name defines its geometry.

Mark the dimensions that govern fit

Use a controlled drawing to show the datum scheme and accepted relationships between functional areas. Where further work is requested after casting, state the final dimensions and surface condition for those interfaces. Areas accepted as cast should have their own defined acceptance basis.

Choose the surface treatment

Sandblasting, painting, powder coating and polishing are named options for the selected part. Identify the treatment and any boundaries around contact or locating surfaces. For exposed areas, include the appearance condition that will be used during approval.

  • State the drawing revision and required quantity.
  • Identify material, dimensional and surface acceptance criteria.
  • Include any additional work or inspection requested in the quotation.

Keep approval aligned with the delivered part

If a sample or first component is to be approved, specify the records and references needed for that decision. Use the same requirements for subsequent supply so the equipment component can be checked consistently.
