ToleranceCustomer's Drawing Request
Industrial machinery parts can be specified as custom ductile-iron or grey-iron sand castings with CNC-finished interfaces. This OEM/ODM enquiry follows the customer's drawing for size and tolerance requirements. The service states 100% inspection under an ISO9001-system reference.
Define the component through its machinery interfaces
Show the surfaces and dimensions that determine installation and function. Identify the actual part, selected iron family and full grade required by the design. The material and geometry should remain consistent between the drawing and the supply request.
- Provide the component drawing and revision.
- Select the ductile-iron or grey-iron grade.
- Mark the dimensions requiring CNC machining.
- State quantity and the required supplied condition.
- Define dimensional and surface acceptance.
- Identify inspection records and supplier documents.
Assign tolerance requirements to the drawing
Separate dimensions accepted in the cast condition from those controlled after CNC work. Specify the numerical limits and reference datums for the finished interfaces. Customized size alone does not define machining precision, so the actual acceptance requirement should be stated on the relevant dimensions.
Agree the stated inspection and qualification scope
Identify the characteristics covered by 100% inspection for the selected component. State the measurements and records needed to establish the supplied part's acceptance. ISO9001 is the qualification reference for which the applicable documents and supplier scope should be identified. The grade, drawing and finished condition should establish the order without importing unstated machining or material limits from another component.
