Custom ductile-iron and ADI shell-mold sand-casting enquiries sit alongside GG25 or HT300 gray-iron components. Select the full material designation and required condition for the drawing. The chosen grade and route should define the actual part rather than combining different iron families into one specification.
Choose the condition for the component’s duty
Identify the working environment and properties required by the design. An ADI request needs its appropriate ductile-iron specification, while a gray-iron component retains its own governing requirement. Mark mounting and contacting geometry that explains how the part functions in its assembly.
Assign machining and surface work
Sand casting can include machining where needed and surface treatment. Distinguish areas accepted as cast from interfaces requiring finished dimensions. Show datum relationships, acceptance limits and the supplied stage used for assessment, with final surface coverage or masking defined for the selected component.
- Provide quantity and the controlled revision.
- Identify material and dimensional approval records.
- Mark functional and visible faces.
- Describe the intended role of an approval sample.
Set drawing and inspection requirements
Design information can include 2D, 3D, CAD, DWG, STEP, PDF or IGS. The stated 100% inspection under an ISO9001-system reference should cover agreed characteristics and records for the selected iron and geometry. Request relevant ISO9001:2015 certificate scope, connecting sample and production approval to the same material, drawing and delivered-state definition.
