SizeCustomer's 3D Drawing
Industrial iron components can be requested from customer 3D drawings with optional machining and a powder-coated finish. This OEM/ODM enquiry also names steel, aluminum, bronze and magnesium as separate material choices. Sand, foam, centrifugal and investment casting are routes to select for the actual grade and geometry.
Define one material and route for the component
Provide the complete grade and applicable material specification for the part. Describe the geometry and any process requirement established by the design. The named routes should identify the selected manufacturing scope rather than one sequence applied to all metals.
- Supply the component drawing and selected grade.
- State quantity and the casting-route requirement.
- Mark interfaces needing finished machining.
- Define powder-coating and acceptance requirements.
- Identify the required delivered material condition.
- Specify application and supplier-document needs.
Separate casting dimensions from optional machining
Show the geometry that can be accepted in the cast condition and the dimensions requiring machining. Identify the finished limits and reference datums relevant to assembly or function. This defines the optional machining work through the actual component rather than a general precision claim.
Coordinate powder coating and qualification requirements
Powder coating is the named finish. Specify the surface result and any areas needing particular instructions so the final supplied condition meets the drawing requirements. GB, ASTM, AISI, DIN and BS are named standard families; select the applicable document. ISO9001:2008 is the qualification reference for which relevant current supplier documentation and scope should be requested.
