Prototype manufacturing should follow the purpose of the sample and the requirements it must demonstrate. This customized OEM scope includes CNC machining, sand-casting and investment-casting enquiries, with metal/plastic work and micro machining. Define the selected material and route for the actual component.
Identify the prototype's evaluation requirements
Provide the geometry and describe the intended function or assembly check. Mark the dimensions and surface characteristics that determine whether the sample meets the project need. The incoming blank and finished condition should support that defined evaluation.
- Supply the component model and controlled dimensions.
- Select the material grade and blank-making requirement.
- Identify CNC or micro-machined geometry.
- State the sample quantity and acceptance criteria.
Choose the metal or plastic material
Metal capabilities include aluminum, brass, bronze, copper, hardened metals, precious metals, stainless steel and steel alloys. Plastic prototypes remain a separate nonmetal enquiry. Select the suitable process for the requested material rather than apply casting to every available choice.
Allocate machining and finishing work
Broaching, drilling, etching/chemical machining, laser machining, milling, turning, wire EDM and punching are named operations. Rapid prototyping and other machining services are included scope. Painting is available for enquiry, with the required surface result defined for the actual sample.
Keep design data and acceptance aligned
Design inputs include Pro/Engineer, SolidWorks, Unigraphics and AutoCAD, with IGS, STP, STL and X-T file references. Identify the controlling revision and any dimensioned requirements needed for inspection. The chosen material, operations and acceptance should identify one supplied prototype.
