QT600-3 ductile-iron slag pots are made by sand casting, with heat-resistant cast-iron requirements specified for the actual service. Dimensions follow the pot drawing. Define the complete material document and condition together with the slag and operating duty for the selected design.
Set capacity around the pot and working load
Working-capacity references include 10, 20 and 25 tonnes. Identify the applicable capacity basis for the chosen geometry rather than using it as the pot’s own mass. Show handling, support and connection interfaces with the requirements needed for the intended operating arrangement. Identify which operating conditions apply to the selected load capacity.
Define hardness and supplied-interface acceptance
The hardness reference is 180–270 HB. Agree the material condition, test locations and assessment method for the selected pot. Identify machining requirements at functional interfaces and distinguish the cast form from surfaces requiring a particular finished condition.
- State the actual slag and thermal exposure requirements.
- Provide quantity and the controlling drawing revision.
- Mark datums and dimensions required for installation.
- Define material, dimensional and service-duty approval records.
Inspect the pot against the service brief
The stated 100% inspection should address agreed characteristics and reporting for the chosen component. Request applicable ISO9001:2008 documentation and scope with the inspection brief. Explain any initial-pot approval task and keep the accepted material, working capacity and supplied geometry attached to the order so production acceptance follows the actual slag-container design.
