Multi-material casting enquiries should identify the actual deliverable and its selected metal. This scope covers separate requests for steel, brass, copper and aluminum components, each matched to a suitable production route. A powder-pattern request should be defined separately for the process and item concerned.
Identify a pattern, casting or finished component
State which object must be supplied and provide its controlled geometry. For a pattern request, identify the intended casting project and the requirements the pattern must support. For a component, name the material grade and required supplied condition.
- Identify the pattern or cast-component deliverable.
- Select the complete metal grade and standard.
- Provide the drawing revision and required quantity.
- Define the selected casting-route requirement.
- Mark functional interfaces and acceptance dimensions.
- Describe the powder-pattern requirement where applicable.
Select the route for the actual material
Discuss die, sand, investment or gravity casting against the chosen grade and geometry. The process names should describe alternatives for the actual request rather than one universal sequence. Agree the proposed method and work included in the quotation.
Define powder-pattern and acceptance requirements
Specify what the powder-pattern wording means for your project, including the intended application and supplied form. Do not substitute the broad term for a defined composition or manufacturing specification. State the dimensional, material and surface checks needed for the ordered object. The selected drawing and acceptance criteria should identify the actual casting or pattern to be received.
