Custom OEM ferrous casting enquiries include carbon-steel and iron components with resin-coated-sand and shell-mold requirements. Select the actual material family and complete grade for the part. A controlled drawing should define the component’s function and the supplied condition needed for acceptance.

Make the material request unambiguous

State the governing material designation and any required condition rather than using iron and carbon steel as interchangeable descriptions. The chosen requirement should remain connected to the same component drawing used for quotation. Include any application-specific acceptance that influences the material decision.

Define the molding scope through the geometry

Show the overall form, internal shapes and interfaces relevant to the requested casting. Specify the resin-coated-sand and shell-mold requirements for the selected grade and geometry. Where a model or section view explains the form, pair it with controlled dimensions that establish the acceptance basis.

  • Provide quantity and the drawing revision.
  • Identify mounting and mating interfaces.
  • Mark datums and controlled dimensions.
  • State the required final surface and supplied condition.

Include additional work in the approval brief

Identify any further processing or inspection requested in the quotation and define the delivered dimensions at those areas. Agree the material, dimensional and surface records needed for the ordered casting. If a sample is to be approved, use the same drawing revision, grade and acceptance requirements for that decision and subsequent production of the component.
