OEM component enquiries include iron, steel, brass or aluminum with selected sand- or lost-wax casting and machining. Other metals can be specified separately. Provide the complete grade, compatible route and drawing or sample defining the actual part and required supplied state.

Use drawings and samples to establish the result

Accepted formats are PDF, DWG, STP and IGS. Identify which revision controls the geometry and what any sample represents. Mark datums and dimensions governing mounting, mating or working contacts, with the conditions in which those interfaces will be assessed.

Define machining and surface requirements

Distinguish cast-state form from interfaces requiring further work. Surface treatment follows customer requirements; specify the required process, coverage and final appearance. Identify masking and contact conditions where the selected finish affects dimensional or functional acceptance.

  • Material and dimension reports are provided.
  • Define the characteristics and records required within those reports, including the report needed before accepting the first finished component.
  • Provide quantity and the complete material condition.
  • Specify protection needed within wooden-box packing.

Link inspection and qualification to the actual order

The stated 100% inspection under an ISO9001-system reference should address agreed material, dimensional and surface characteristics. Request applicable ISO9001, TS16949 and RoHS documents and scope. Explain what an initial part must demonstrate and retain approved geometry or treatment changes with the component definition, keeping production acceptance connected to the selected casting and machined supply.
