Custom ferrous components for agricultural, engineering-machinery and automotive enquiries include carbon steel, stainless steel, gray iron or ductile iron. Select investment or sand casting with CNC machining for a compatible material and design. OEM/ODM work should identify the actual drawing and required supplied state.
Set the required heat-treated condition
Quench-and-temper treatment is named. Specify the applicable grade, governing material document and condition needed by the component. Identify where controlled dimensions and material acceptance are established within the selected manufacturing sequence.
Define CNC interfaces and final surface
Show mounting, mating and working geometry with the datums determining fit. Mark dimensions requiring final machining and their measurement conditions. Polishing, sandblasting, color-anodizing and plating requests should identify the actual substrate, suitable process, coverage and appearance at relevant areas.
Assign examination and governing documents
Inspection references are MT, UT, RT and CMM. Define methods, coverage and acceptance records for the selected component. Standard families include ASTM, AISI, DIN, BS, JIS and AS; identify complete documents and editions, and request applicable ISO9001:2008 and ISO/TS16949 documentation and supplier scope.
- Provide quantity and the controlling revision.
- Identify cast-state and finished-interface boundaries.
- Define material, dimensional and surface approval evidence.
- Explain what an initial part must demonstrate.
Retain approved grade, treatment and geometry changes with the component definition so production acceptance follows the actual ferrous casting and CNC result.
