Custom ductile-iron sand castings are available for OEM/ODM automotive-machinery enquiries, alongside separately specified gray-iron parts. Dimensions and tolerances follow the selected drawing. Define the complete material and required condition around the actual component and its working interfaces.

Choose one governing grade requirement

Named ductile-iron references are ASTM A536 65-45-12, DIN GGG40 or GGG50, JIS FCD500 and QT500. Identify the full standard and edition applying to the selected part. Any equivalence requirement needs its own agreed basis, with the material acceptance condition made explicit for the order.

Define the component’s actual assembly geometry

Show mounting, locating and mating relationships within the intended machinery. Mark datums and dimensional limits governing fit. State the operating duty relevant to the material selection and distinguish cast-state form from interfaces requiring a particular final supplied condition.

  • Provide quantity and the controlling drawing revision.
  • Identify material and dimensional approval records, including the dimensions and material evidence supporting the selected grade’s component approval.
  • Specify working and visible surface requirements.
  • Explain the purpose of an initial component.

Set inspection and qualification scope

The stated 100% inspection under an ISO9001-system reference should assess agreed characteristics of the selected iron part. Define methods, measurement conditions and reporting and request applicable qualification documents and scope. Retain approved grade, geometry and supplied-state changes with the component definition so production acceptance follows the actual ductile-iron or separate gray-iron order.
