Motor and automotive-component requests can be developed around a selected casting, its machining operations and the finished surface. This OEM/ODM enquiry includes stainless steel, aluminum and iron, with die, lost-wax, sand and gravity casting named as route choices for the actual part.

Build the quotation around one component

Use a 2D PDF/CAD drawing or 3D IGES/STEP model to show the geometry, mating interfaces and required finished condition. Steel, zamac, copper, zinc, brass and magnesium are additional material enquiries. Define the complete grade and intended duty so that the chosen metal and process can be assessed together.

Allocate machining and surface work

Casting may be followed by machining where required, including CNC work. Powder coating, painting and anodizing are named finishing options for appropriate metals. Mark which surfaces remain cast, which require machining and where coating must stop, giving the supplier a clear basis for planning the finished component.

  • Reference the current drawing revision and material grade.
  • Identify the casting route requested for evaluation.
  • Highlight functional dimensions and machining allowances.
  • Specify the finish and the surfaces to protect.
  • State quantity and inspection acceptance requirements.
  • Identify any applicable qualification or compliance documents.

Keep mold-tooling requests distinct

Separate tooling enquiries include punching and cold-runner steel molds for ABS/PP, extrusion or preform tooling, and rubber or silicone injection molds. Round-valve and powder-product enquiries also need their own defined deliverable. Keep these scopes clear when requesting an assembly quotation, and align ISO9001, TS16949 or RoHS documentation with the actual supplier, process and product concerned.
