Small-batch iron-component enquiries cover prototypes and replacement parts with sand casting and CNC machining. Nodular graphite iron is named, with lost-foam and automatic green-sand molding/pouring routes available for selection. Define the complete material specification and the actual component required for the order.

Resolve the grade and replacement geometry

Material references are written as HT250, 300, 350 and QT 450, 550, 600, 700-2. Provide the complete designation and governing document for the chosen iron. For a replacement, show mounting and mating details and identify wear or damage on any reference part before setting the intended dimensions. State any design changes separately from the replacement geometry being evaluated.

Choose the supplied machining and surface condition

OEM/ODM CNC work includes machining-center requests. Mark finished interfaces and the datums used to assess their fit. Surface choices include painting, electroplating, phosphating, powder coating, polishing and other coating or plating requests, with size and color following customer requirements.

  • State the actual batch quantity.
  • Provide the controlled drawing revision.
  • Identify what the prototype should demonstrate.
  • Define material and dimensional approval records.

Agree inspection for the selected batch

The stated 100% inspection should follow agreed characteristics and acceptance limits for the prototype or replacement being ordered. Include the final surface and any sample-approval requirements in that brief. Keep subsequent production tied to the same grade, geometry and supplied state, giving the small-batch request a component-specific approval basis.
