Custom component enquiries are offered with sand casting or investment casting selected for the required part. A material grade, controlled drawing and defined supplied condition provide the starting point for discussing the actual manufacturing request.
Identify the part and its role
Explain how the component is used and show the geometry needed by its assembly. Provide the drawing revision and identify the dimensions that control installation or function. If the enquiry concerns more than one item, give each component its own material and acceptance requirements.
- Submit the controlled component drawing and intended use.
- Specify the complete material grade and governing document.
- Identify the required route and casting geometry.
- Mark critical dimensions and functional interfaces.
- State quantity and the condition required at receipt.
Define the supplied stage and any additional work
Distinguish the casting geometry from any further work requested on the part. Identify the surfaces that need a particular finished condition and the dimensions to be accepted at that stage. This makes the quotation scope clear and gives each processing requirement a purpose within the component design.
Make acceptance usable for purchasing
Specify the material, dimensional and surface checks needed for the actual item. Define the methods, limits and records relevant to those requirements, then keep them with the approved drawing. The selected grade and supplied-condition brief can provide a consistent reference when discussing the quotation, evaluating the proposed component and accepting its delivered condition.
