Product description

Special-shaped cast-iron or ductile-iron components can be requested through coated-sand casting with nonstandard machining services. Choose the actual iron family and complete grade for the component. Its drawing should establish the cast shape and the required supplied condition for the intended use.

Describe the special geometry in context

Show the part’s location and function within its mating assembly. Identify the contacts and connections that control installation or operation. State the working duty relevant to the selected design and material condition.

Define the nonstandard machining interfaces

Mark the surfaces and dimensions requiring further work after casting. Distinguish them from regions accepted in their cast condition, with locating references for the finished fit. Put functional limits and measurement conditions beside the relationships that need to be assessed together.

Specify supplied surfaces and approval evidence

Identify the final appearance or contact result required at each relevant area. Define any further surface work being requested for the chosen substrate. Specify material, dimensional and surface records needed to approve the special-shaped component against its intended assembly.

  • Provide the coated-sand part’s quantity and controlling drawing revision.
  • Identify the complete iron grade and governing requirements.
  • Explain what an initial item must demonstrate at its machined interfaces.
  • Retain accepted shape, material and machining decisions within the component record.

Use the approved fit and supplied-state definition when requesting subsequent nonstandard iron castings.
