A static-hook casting should be specified by its geometry, attachment and intended duty. This enquiry covers steel and cast-iron sand-casting requests, with casting, deburring and surface treatment as the stated supply sequence. Zinc plating, painting and powder coating are finishing choices for the selected base metal.
Draw the hook around its attachment and contact points
Show how the hook is attached and where it contacts the supported item or surrounding structure. Dimension the opening, mounting arrangement and other interfaces relevant to the design. Give the intended static duty and any required load or acceptance criteria so that the component is quoted against an engineering requirement.
- Provide the controlled hook drawing, selected metal grade and quantity.
- Mark the critical interfaces and customized dimensional tolerances.
- Specify the finish and the checks required for acceptance.
Choose the finish independently of the casting metal
Steel and cast iron are separate material choices; zinc plating describes a surface treatment. Select painting, powder coating or zinc plating for the actual application, and identify contact areas or mating dimensions that need particular finishing instructions. Deburring is part of the stated process and can be addressed through the required edge condition on the drawing.
Make the inspection request measurable
The service states 100% inspection. Define which dimensions and surface characteristics that inspection must cover, with the drawing limits establishing acceptance. Available drawing references include 2D PDF, CAD, DWG and DXF, plus 3D IGES, STEP and VDA. Use a consistent revision across those files and the purchase specification so the supplied static hook is assessed against the intended design.
