Investment-cast parts with machining should be quoted against the component's material, geometry and acceptance requirements. This custom OEM enquiry covers steel and separate brass, bronze or titanium requests. Silica-sol, water-glass and plaster routes are named process options to discuss for the selected design.
Define the resistance requirement in the part specification
If resistance is important to the application, describe the property and operating conditions that the component must satisfy. Select the exact material grade and applicable standard for that duty. This gives the technical review a usable requirement rather than assigning an unstated heat, wear or corrosion rating to every metal choice.
Identify cast and machined dimensions
Provide the complete shape with the interfaces that require finished machining. Put numerical limits on the dimensions that control function or assembly. A precision enquiry should define those requirements for the ordered part without assuming one general accuracy across all cast and machined surfaces.
- Supply 2D PDF, DWG or DXF component drawings.
- Include available 3D STEP, STP or IGS geometry.
- Identify the selected material grade and required quantity.
- Mark machined interfaces and acceptance dimensions.
- Describe the required delivered condition and inspection.
- Identify tooling and sample requirements for evaluation.
Agree the route and order scope for the selected metal
Discuss silica-sol, water-glass or plaster requirements against the actual material and component geometry. The quotation should identify the proposed manufacturing route and machining work included. The minimum order is stated as 100 pieces, with carton or plywood-case packing available for the supply request.
Use the sample enquiry to define the evaluation
Explain what the sample must demonstrate and which drawing requirements govern it. Agree tooling and sample supply details within the quotation. This keeps the evaluation, production specification and acceptance criteria aligned for the requested investment-cast component.
