OEM/ODM component enquiries include HT200 or GG20 grey iron and separately specified ductile iron. Gravity, sand, lost-wax investment, die and lost-foam casting are route choices to define for the actual material and geometry, with additional metal requests scoped independently.
Give each material a complete designation
Additional choices include steel, aluminum, magnesium, zinc, brass, bronze, copper, hardened metals and precious metals. Select the complete grade and its governing document, including any conditions that must be met by the selected iron. Keep the material and suitable route together in each component brief.
Choose treatment and inspection for the alloy
Quenching and tempering or solution and aging are named options for the selected alloy and condition. Inspection scope includes metallographic analysis, MT, UT, RT, CMM, 100% visual checks and 100% gauge checks. Specify the methods, areas and limits needed to accept the ordered component.
- Provide 2D PDF/CAD or 3D IGES/STEP data.
- Select the grade, route and required material condition.
- Mark controlled dimensions and inspection coverage.
- Define powder coating, zinc plating or laser-engraving requirements.
- State quantity and application-specific acceptance.
Complete the standards and qualification brief
Identify the applicable ASTM, AISI, DIN, BS, JIS, NF or AS documents and request relevant ISO9001:2015 and IATF16949 supplier scope. Automotive, motorcycle, energy, medical-device and robotics projects should include their own duty and acceptance requirements so finishing and inspection address the actual component being quoted.
